Octavia Splendid spends her nights slugging whiskey and dancing (like a baby horse - all weak at the knees) in smoke-filled underground parties where the walls drip and the floor shakes. She spends her days glugging aspirin in her sunshiney jumblesale bedroom where the walls drip with luxurious clothing and the floor (beneath its antique turkish carpet) creaks.

Dorothy Casual spends her days rifling through the shelves in the musty thrift store, for combat trousers and converse all stars. At night she writes her science homework, eats potato chips, plays her guitar; in her gloomy bedroom where the walls drip with Misfits posters and the floor is invisible beneath newspaper cuttings and superhero figurines.

Octavia dyes her hair in the sink with a pair of rubber gloves and Ultra Clorox bleach. She buys expensive lipstick and cheap fags. She owns 61 pairs of shoes and bought her favourite fur coat from a woman with another woman tatooed on her neck, who smelt like coffee and geraniums and was wearing odd shoes.

Dorothy dyes her hair in the sink with her step-mother and a bottle of Eazy-Tress Kolor-Kool in No.106; 'Hearse'. She buys first edition comic books and latest edition photography equipment. She owns 2 pairs of shoes and always wears her underwear inside out, for good luck.

Octavia is sleeping with Dave Shout, who plays in a band and backcombs his hair and touches her inappropriately in public.

Dorothy is dating Ted Shrug, who sat next to her once in a chemistry class and is afraid of coleslaw.
